ILVE Oven Shuts Off Randomly? Common Causes and Fix Guide

If your ILVE oven shuts off randomly while cooking, it can be very frustrating and hard to trust.

It may start heating normally, then suddenly stop for no obvious reason.

This is a common type of oven fault and usually means there is a problem with how power is being controlled inside the appliance.

What could be causing this issue?

1. Faulty selector switch

The selector switch controls the different oven functions. When the internal contacts begin to wear out, power can cut in and out unexpectedly.

👉 Typical signs:

  • The oven switches off during cooking
  • It works again after changing the setting
  • The problem becomes more frequent over time

On ILVE ovens, intermittent cut-outs are a recognised fault pattern across the Nostalgie and Majestic series. The rotary selector switch can develop worn contacts that drop connection under heat and load — causing the oven to shut off mid-cook. Switching the function knob while the thermostat is live accelerates this wear significantly.

2. Loose or damaged wiring

If a wire or terminal inside the oven is loose or damaged, the electrical supply can be interrupted and cause random shut-offs.

3. Faulty thermostat or control part

A thermostat or temperature control issue can also cause unstable behaviour, especially if the oven cuts out after heating for a short time.

If your ILVE oven behaves like this, it’s very likely that one of these parts needs replacing.
