It can be very frustrating. Your ILVE oven seems to be working — the fan is spinning, the light may be on — but there’s no heat at all.
You leave it running, wait… and nothing cooks.
This is a fairly common issue with ILVE ovens, and in many cases it can be resolved without replacing the entire appliance.
So what’s usually causing it?
1. Faulty selector switch
This component controls how power is distributed inside the oven. When it starts to fail, the oven may appear to be working, but the heating elements won’t receive power.
👉 Often the issue if:
- The oven works in some functions but not others
- The grill still works but the oven doesn’t
- The problem happens intermittently
On ILVE ovens, the fan running with no heat is a documented fault across the Nostalgie and Majestic series. The selector switch can fail in a way that leaves the fan and display fully operational while the oven contacts stop delivering power to the heating element — making it appear as though everything is working normally.
2. Broken heating element
This is the part responsible for generating heat inside the oven.
👉 More likely if:
- The oven doesn’t heat at all in any setting
- You noticed reduced heating performance before
- Sometimes visible damage or no glow
3. Thermostat issue
The thermostat regulates the oven temperature.
👉 More likely if:
- The oven heats but not consistently
- Food comes out uneven or undercooked
- The temperature seems unstable
If any of these situations sound familiar, it’s very likely that one of these parts needs replacing.
