ELBA oven not heating properly? Common causes and how to fix it

If your ELBA oven isn’t heating properly, it can be very frustrating. It may look like everything is working — the fan runs and the light is on — but there’s little or no heat.

You leave it on, expecting it to warm up… but it stays cold or doesn’t reach the right temperature.

This is a common issue with ELBA ovens, and in many cases it can be fixed without replacing the whole appliance.

So what could be causing it?

1. Faulty selector switch

This part controls how power is distributed inside the oven. If it starts to fail, the oven can appear to work, but the heating elements may not receive power.

👉 Often the issue if:

  • The oven works in some functions but not others
  • The grill works but the main oven doesn’t
  • The issue is inconsistent or comes and goes

On Elba ovens — which share components with DeLonghi and CDA appliances — the fan running with no heat points strongly to a failed selector switch contact rather than the element itself. The switch stops delivering power to the heating element while the fan and indicator light remain fully operational, which is a classic sign of a contact fault on this type of switch.

2. Broken heating element

This is the component that produces heat inside the oven.

👉 More likely if:

  • The oven doesn’t heat at all in any mode
  • You noticed weaker heating before it stopped
  • Sometimes visible damage or no glow

3. Thermostat issue

The thermostat controls and regulates the oven temperature.

👉 More likely if:

  • The oven heats but not to the correct temperature
  • Food comes out undercooked or uneven
  • The temperature fluctuates

If this sounds like your situation, it’s very likely that one of these parts needs replacing.
