DELONGHI Oven Grill Works But Oven Won’t Heat? Fix

It’s a frustrating situation. Your DELONGHI oven grill is working, but the main oven doesn’t heat at all.

You try different cooking modes, but only some of them seem to respond.

This usually means there’s a problem with how power is being directed inside the oven.

What’s usually causing this?

1. Faulty selector switch

The selector switch controls which function the oven uses. Each setting relies on different internal electrical contacts.

When part of the switch fails, some functions may continue to work while others stop completely.

👉 Common signs:

  • The grill works but the oven doesn’t heat
  • Some modes work, others do not
  • Only certain settings are affected

On DeLonghi ovens, the selector switch — sometimes referred to as the function knob — works alongside the thermostat to direct power to specific elements. Models such as the DEF905 series are known for contact burnout on the switch, where the top and bottom oven element contacts fail while the grill contact continues to function, matching this fault pattern exactly.

2. Heating element issue

If the main oven isn’t heating, the fan or lower heating element may be faulty. This is another common possibility.

3. Internal wiring problem

Loose or damaged wiring can stop certain oven functions from receiving power, leading to partial operation.

If your DELONGHI oven behaves like this, it’s very likely that one of these components needs replacing.
