It’s a frustrating problem. Your DELONGHI oven may seem to be running normally — the fan is working, the light may be on — but there’s still no heat at all.
You leave it on, wait for it to warm up… and nothing happens.
This is a common oven fault, and in many cases it can be fixed without replacing the whole appliance.
So what could be causing it?
1. Faulty selector switch
This is the part that controls where power goes inside the oven. If it starts to fail, the oven can look like it’s working, but the heating elements may not receive power.
👉 Often the issue if:
- The oven works in some settings but not others
- The grill still works but the main oven doesn’t
- The issue is occasional or inconsistent
On DeLonghi ovens, the fan running with no heat is a recognised fault pattern linked to contact burnout on the selector switch. Models in the DEF905 series are documented with this behaviour — the switch fails to route power to the oven element while the fan, thermostat light and other functions continue operating normally.
2. Broken heating element
This is the part that actually creates the heat inside the oven cavity.
👉 More likely if:
- The oven stays cold in every cooking function
- You noticed poor heating before it stopped completely
- There is sometimes visible damage or no glow at all
3. Thermostat issue
The thermostat regulates the temperature and helps the oven maintain the correct level of heat.
👉 More likely if:
- The oven heats, but not properly
- Food cooks unevenly or stays underdone
- The temperature feels unstable or unpredictable
If any of these signs match what your oven is doing, it’s very likely that one of these parts needs replacing.
