BRITANNIA Oven Works on Some Settings But Not Others – Causes & Fix

If your BRITANNIA oven works on some settings but not others, the fault is usually more specific than it seems.

You turn the knob to fan oven — nothing. Switch to grill — it works fine. Something inside is failing selectively.

So what's usually causing it?

1. Faulty selector switch

The selector switch controls which function receives power. Each setting uses a different internal contact — when one or more contacts fail, only the functions linked to working contacts will operate.

2. Wiring fault on a specific circuit

A loose or damaged wire on one particular circuit can cut power to a specific function without affecting others.

• The fault appeared suddenly after moving the oven
• You can see or smell signs of burning near the back panel
• The affected setting has never worked since installation

3. Element failure on a specific function

Each cooking mode uses a different element. If one element fails, only the settings that rely on it will stop working.

👉 More likely if:

• The selector switch has been tested and is working
• You can see visible damage inside the oven cavity
• The fan runs but no heat is produced on that setting
