AMICA Oven Grill Works But Oven Doesn’t? Causes & Fix

It can be frustrating. Your AMICA oven grill works fine, but the main oven doesn’t heat at all.

You try different settings, but only certain functions seem to respond.

This is a common issue and usually indicates a problem with how power is distributed inside the oven.

What’s usually causing this?

1. Faulty selector switch

The selector switch controls the oven’s different cooking functions. Each mode (grill, fan oven, top heat) relies on separate internal contacts.

If part of the switch fails, some functions may continue working while others stop completely.

👉 Typical signs:

  • The grill works but the oven doesn’t
  • Some settings respond, others do nothing
  • Only specific functions are affected

On Amica ovens, the selector switch is typically clipped onto the rear of the thermostat and accessed from the top panel. Models in the 508 and 6001 series are frequently reported with this issue — the rear contact on the switch overheats over time, causing specific functions to drop out while others continue to work normally.

2. Heating element fault

If the main oven isn’t heating, the fan or bottom element may be damaged. This is another common cause of this issue.

3. Internal wiring issue

Faulty or loose wiring can prevent certain oven functions from receiving power, leading to partial operation.

If your AMICA oven behaves like this, it’s very likely that one of these components needs replacing.
